Pyroban Ex-tec conversions incorporate the modification of the complete electrical installation of a vehicle to comply with CENELEC European standards for electrical apparatus for use in explosive atmospheres.
Electric motors are housed within flameproof enclosures certified to European standard EN50018. Surface temperatures are monitored and truck shutdown occurs if temperatures rise above the specified temperature class.
Intrinsically safe circuitry is used to ensure the safe operation of all other electrical components.Traction batteries are certified to European standard
EN 50019.
Ex-tec conversions provide for the prevention of build up of electrostatic charges and also for spark generation due to mechanical friction. Frame leakage monitoring initiates truck shutdown if dangerous leakage currents are detected.
This total package of safety precautions provides a safe solution for electric fork lift trucks, sweepers and other industrial vehicles operating in Zone 1 hazardous areas, gas groups IA and hR and temperature class T3 and T4.
Pyroban Ex-tec conversions comply with the essential health and ~afety requirements of the European Directive 94/4/EC (ATEX Directive) for equipment classified group II, category 2G. Conversions are based on the European standard EN 1755; "Safety of Industrial Trucks - Operation in potentially explosive atmospheres".
